Barbara Jill Walters is a retired American journalist, author and television personality. Known for his ability to interview and his popularity with viewers, Walters has appeared as the host of numerous TV shows including Today, The View, 20/20 and ABC Evening News. Walters was a working journalist from 1951 to 2015. Walters began his career on The Today Show in the early 1960s as a writer and producer of stories about women's interests. Her popularity with viewers led to Walters receiving more airtime, and in 1974 she became a co-host, the first woman to hold the title on a news show. In 1976, she continued to be a female radio pioneer, becoming the first female co-host of an online evening news show, with Harry Reasoner on ABC Evening News. From 1979 to 2004, Walters worked as a producer and co-host of ABC 20/20 magazine.

ABC's 20/20 and The View both featured her as a TV interviewer. Known for her distinctive voice, she has advertised for Welch's and interviewed many celebrities and world leaders.
